Virginia-Grace had a terribly challenging Kindergarten year.  It had nothing to do with academics, and everything to do with self confidence.  We don't know what happened, but this child that used to light up a room had faded into a ghost of herself.  That summer I spent most of my time figuring out what to do about her.  While in Houston, she did a production through my parent's church and she seemed to enjoy it.  So when we returned to Los Angeles, I called my friend Claire Baber and she told me about Marya and 1Stage.  Marya sounded perfect for our daughter.  So we signed Virginia-Grace up for 1Stage and the production was "Charlie Brown" - this was the Fall of her First Grade year.  By October we had our smiling child back!  Whatever magic Marya did, she did it well.  We've been in 3 productions now with Marya, and we can't wipe that smile off of our child's face if we tried!  She's constantly singing, dancing and practicing her lines.  She feels like she can take on the world now!  We truly can't express how grateful we are to have found Marya and 1Stage.
If you asked Virginia-Grace on any given day what her favorite activity is she would tell you, with no hesitation, that it's acting!

 My son, Alex, was a member for over 6 years, playing such wonderful parts as ‘Charlie Brown’ in “Charlie Brown”, ‘Uncle Max’ in “Sound of Music”, and ‘Troy’ in “High School Musical”. He grew as an actor through the various roles he earned. While developing valuable acting and dancing skills, Alex made some great friendships, as well as honed his self-confidence and public-speaking. 1Stage was a priceless experience.

 

My 7 year-old daughter loves to sing, dance, and act, but she is very shy and self-conscious about performing in front of people. She never wants to take dance classes or do group theatrical activities. I begged her to try 1Stage, because it had been such a positive experience for my older daughter, and I knew Marya would be good with her. This is her third time signing up and she loves it! 1Stage provides a very comfortable, supportive and nurturing environment, which is just what she needed to feel relaxed and come out of her shell. I am very grateful to Marya for providing such a great program for young kids!
